This assignment has greatly influenced my view of photography and increased my skill. I experimented with both fast and slow shutter speeds for the different types of motion. I learned how important shutter speed can be in determining the composition. This motion unit is my favorite because all of the variety and creativity that can be displayed.

Motion Shooting Assignment

Motion Planning

Blurred Subject:

My goals for blurred photography include light trails from other cars and streetlights. I have seen examples of people taking a long shutter speed shot of a road or from the back of a car while it is moving. These types of photos interest me because of the high amount of variety. I would like to experiment with this. I would also like to try blurring a person or animal as it runs or jumps. Pool tables also seem to be good subjects for this type of photography. I will work with a slow shutter speed.

Panning:
Panning has always been a type of photography that has interested me. I hope to accomplish a lot with this type since it happens to be my favorite. I especially like the images that include cars and lights. I hope to capture some images of cars as well as people doing flips and gymnastics. The background really makes the shot for these so I will experiment with many different ones. I will work with a semi low shutter speed and follow the subject.

Frozen Motion:
This is another type of photography that highly interests me. It captures split second moments that sometimes cannot even be seen normally. For this type of photography I want to work with water and high motion activities like running jumping and flipping. I will work with a very quick shutter speed and compensate the rest.

Zooming:
I like this type of photography when it is used in nature especially and to enhance a subject. I want to try zooming on different types of subjects with lots of different backgrounds. I will experiment with different shutter speeds and see what works best for this type of photography.

Writing with Light:
I have seen many cool ideas with this type of photography. I think that out of all the types utilized in this project, this one has the largest realm for creativity. There seem to be so many different options and I would like to try just about everything I can think of. I will work with the bulb setting and a relatively low ISO in the dark.

Shooting this type of movement was a lot of fun because we got to choose what the final image would look like. Rather than just capturing a type of motion, we got to create the motion and experiment with different kinds of ideas. Next time, I have some other creative ideas in mind to do with the type of the light and the the shapes that it makes. We should try and keep the subjects more still as well so they look as normal as possible.

Lighting Final

Soft Artificial Light

Soft Outdoor Natural Light

Direct Outdoor Natural Light

Hard Artificial Light

Soft Natural Light

1. This person is a good friend of mine and is very caring which makes her a part of my life.

2. Her personality is adventurous, mysterious, and she has a childlike side. Her flannel shirt and hoodie dictate that she is usually dressed for outdoor activities. The playground in the background of the one shot leads into her childlike side while showing a sense of maturity at the same time. The fog aids in showing off her mysterious and adventurous side, and the faces she makes demonstrate how goofy she really is.

3. This unit has made my photography a lot better because it gave me the skills needed to venture off on my own and experiment. I discovered new ways of doing things on my own.
